"Glitter" by Tyler the Creator, the Music Video

The music video is finally completed and I am happy with the results of it. Celine and I have done a lot for this assignment. By looking back on the video, there could have been more shots and angles. I saw some things I could've also improved on. For example, more stable surfaces to put filming equipment on so that the video seems to be less shaky. Since this was a larger project, I did expect that there would be some slight difficulties. However, I am satisfied with the results, and I am happy with what Celine and I accomplished. This music video gave me a better idea of how professional music videos are made and the process that accompanies them. It enabled me to discover new strengths and weaknesses to be aware of in the future. This assignment was extremely enjoyable, especially when working with someone hard working.

Layering the music correctly

Continuing editing the music video, there were a few complications as expected. One of these complications was the sound. Since it is a music video, my partner and I used the song, "Glitter" by Tyler the Creator. However, the song itself does include explicit language, so Celine found a clean version online. I used this version and downloaded it to use in the music video. Once I was able to do this, I began to piece all the clips together. I added in the transitions Celine suggested, as well as ones I thought would go well with the video. The issue arose once I realized the video was over the time limit of 1 minute and 15 seconds. I had to cut down on the video, which was almost at 4 minutes. This meant that a lot of the clips specifically mentioned in the storyboard were not able to be in the video. Although this was upsetting and seemed like a huge setback once it occurred, I realized that it wasn't that big of an issue. I realized that Celine and I were trying to fit w

Editing Isn't Actually That Bad...

December 9th, 2021 was the group's first day of editing. I was in charge of editing since I was using my own computer to edit. The software program I used for editing was iMovie, which I used in the last project. With having prior knowledge on how to use iMovie, it was easier to edit the clips filmed. While my partner and I were at the beach filming, I made sure to film more clips than necessary. I did this in order to avoid not having enough of a clip filmed for a certain part of the video or if a clip had to be taken out of the video, it could easily be replaced. The process of editing itself was very simple. I had taken most of the clips and had shortened them extensively. I then had to line up the lyrics of the music with the scenes filmed. I also had to create transitions between the clips. This was probably the hardest part of the editing, as I had to create these transitions as smoothly as possible. Originally I was trying to have the clips transition seamlessly, and have mo

The filming process took my partner, Celine, and me about a day. The majority of the clips were filmed on December 7th, alongside any retakes. The clips that were shot lined up with the storyboard created to ensure that everything that could be filmed was. However, while filming, there were a few complications that could affect the editing stage of the music video. Additionally, the beach is usually very windy, and I am quite sure some of the sounds of the wind were picked up on the shots, which could pose an issue while editing the clips together. However, it should not be a major issue, since the song will be layered over it. My partner Celine and I are full-time students so there isn't as much spare time as the group would've liked. Fortunately, there was an available time period for the group to go to the beach and film, which was taken full advantage of. Since my partner and I went to the beach after school, it was a bit later and the sun was already starting to set. Using

On Tuesday, December 7, my group and I started filming our music video shortly after school. My partner, Celine, and I changed into costumes per the conventions of music videos for the song genre. I wore jeans and a tank top and so did Celine. Although Celine did not appear in any of the shots, she still made a phenomenal effort in the recording of the music video. Celine did bring a tripod to use while filming. This was extremely useful to filming the music video, as it helped to keep the camera angle steady while recording certain angles like a POV shot and panning shots. However, the tripod did produce some difficulties. Celine and I had some trouble trying to maneuver the tripod. Additionally, it was a bit of a struggle to balance it correctly, as the sand on the beach does not have a stable enough surface for it. Fortunately, Celine was able to balance it correctly after packing sand together. After that issue was resolved, my partner and I were able to start filming correctly. M
