A Bit Windy... | Filming Blog

Image
Today we started to film! We actually got all our clips filmed today, so we are ahead of schedule. Both my groupmates, Celine and Sabrina were here today so we were able to film as planned. The props that we brought were an iced tea, a panini, and a cold brew coffee. We also brought an empty coffee cup that we ended up using later on. Due to the wind, we had to retake shots multiple times. A few times our props flew away, or our hair got into our faces and mouths, ruining our shots. However, it was a really fun experience. Fortunately, we didn't have to use our backup plan, since our whole group was present and our location was not being used. I enjoyed filming, especially since I was the main person being filmed. My groupmates, Celine and Sabrina were the ones who were filming and setting up the props. We all collectively were walking each other through each shot, each clip, and what exactly we were going to do. I find this very effective and it helped me to do understand what exa

Planning Storyboard for my Starbucks commercial

Image
Our storyboard goes as the following: First Scene- During this scene, we will be focusing on the Starbucks cup for the commercial. In the beginning, there will be a fade in, which will then show an individual in our group’s back. After that, it turns into a tracking shot to a side shot of her studying. The location for this scene is on the senior patio. We believed it would be best to use a popular place used for dining because our commercial includes eating and drinking. Soft, subtle, jazz music will be playing in the background as well. Second Scene- In the next scene, the shot zooms into the individual, who is about to take a sip from her drink. But then she realizes she wants some food to go along with her drink. This is all taking place at the senior patio and the shot will be a close up. Soft subtle jazz is still playing. Third Scene- This scene starts with a bag dropping in and in a close up. It is wide open and sparkles as well as angelic noises are heard as the music is playin

Planning for my Starbucks Commercial

In our group, we have decided that we are doing a Starbucks commercial. We will be including clips and shots of us studying, speaking to classmates, walking to  class,  and  reading.   Costumes :  We are portraying students ,  so   t he  costumes  are our regular clothes, as we are doing scenes of us studying / reading our  notebooks.     Props:  Starbucks  products, such as drinks  and foo d, as well as  our notebooks and textbooks.      Schedule:     9/22/21 -   Our group researched conventions of Starbucks commercials. We also decided on the CAMS, sounds,  CLAMPS, and  editing (specifically how we wanted the commercial to flow and how we wanted it to be edited).    9/28/21-  We will be storyboarding and deciding how we will film our advertisement (what angles, transitions, and shots to utilize).    9/30/21 & 8/4/21-  We will be filming our actual advertisement (locations are listed below).   8/6/21 & 8/8/21- We will be editing our  footage  from our  commercial .   8/8/21- C

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

Our group decided to do a  Starbucks  advertisement. In their commer ci als,  we  usually see peo ple waking up, on the go, and on their way to work or school.   The costumes seen are usually casual clothes / business  casual clothes, such as blouses, t -shirts, jeans, skirts,  trousers,  and coats.   Props included are Starbucks coffee, food, or overall products made by them. Most of the time, they advertise their coffee on the go products as well as coffee sold in their own cafes.   Their appe a rance is professional yet casual as they are just going to a workplace or class, or on the go early in the morning.   The score of the commer ci als is usually jazz music for ones where they are slower-paced, or ones where a person is working, or upbeat for when  they are  on  t he  go ,  and they just took a sip of their  coffees .   Starbucks products are always shone towards the camera, like their logos or bags of products, to let the  audience ,  know that  it is a Starbucks commercial, w

Hello everyone! Currently, we have been assigned a group assignment. This assignment consists of creating a 30-second advertisement. My group consists of Sabrina and Celine. I chose these two people to work with because I know them personally and thought they would be great to work with. I have Sabrina in multiple classes and she is amazing. Her time management skills are impeccable. She is also an incredible student, who consistently studies to ensure that on any assessment, she is sure to pass with flying colors. Within an assignment that requires group work, she assumes what I like to call the "Organizer" role. She takes the initiative to sort out tasks, make sure that everyone has each other's contact information, and most importantly, that everyone  contributes equally to assignments. I also have Celine in multiple classes. Her work ethic is something to be envious of. While studying or doing an assignment, she makes sure to work uninterrupted, pushing away any distr

My name is Megumi and I am taking AICE Media Studies AS level. My time is usually consumed by school, either by doing homework, studying, or extracurricular activities. During my free time though, I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music, playing with my cat, Moo, and doing outside activities. Whether it be riding my bike, roller-skating, swimming, or taking a stroll through a park, I always feel refreshed afterward. A little more about me is that I like to garden. During this pandemic, quarantining has allowed me to pursue this passion as a hobby. I grow a variety of edible plants, like basil and tomatoes, and decorative plants, like sunflowers and hibiscus plants. Although at first, I could not keep a plant alive for more than a month, I've managed to keep many plants alive and healthy. I was even able to have a raised garden bed for my plants. My cat, Moo, loves to watch me repot, water, and cut off dead leaves and such. More on the class itself, I chose to take Media Studi
