I Cannot Believe I Forgot This…


In my excitement of finishing filming all the necessary scenes and even the refilming of certain scenes, two very important scenes of the opening sequence somehow escaped my mind. I truly cannot comprehend how I let this slip my mind, but I unfortunately did. I skipped over filming the scene where I am writing in my journal. I also did not record the voiceover accompanying the clip. I have no idea how I managed to skip over filming such an important part of the opening sequence. I believe it was my excitement to finish filming paired with me skimming over my storyboard that caused me to skip over this scene! Thankfully I realized I had accidentally skipped over the scene before it was too late. I was beginning to edit the opening sequence. I was piecing all the clips together, as I usually do. I was finishing putting all the clips in order before I added in any transitions or any further editing when I noticed something strange. I was missing a good chunk of time from my opening sequence! I spent a good deal of time completely confused. I was looking back into my camera roll frantically. I assumed I had misclicked and missed adding in a clip into iMovie. However, to my confusion, I couldn’t find this missing clip. I began to panic, searching through every single video clip I had until the possibility that I had forgotten to film a clip dawned on me. I grabbed my storyboard and went through every clip I had on iMovie, and realized I was missing the very beginning of my opening sequence. Since it was earlier in the day that I had caught this mistake, I was able to film the scenes and record the accompanying voiceover with the last of the bright pale sunlight. Although I did have a good laugh once I realized what I had done, it did scare me quite a bit. I have learned to not skim but to carefully and slowly look through each clip and compare it with the storyboard, to ensure things like this do not occur.

And… I am Officially Done!

I decided to try to finish editing as soon as possible. I decided on this for a few reasons. One of those reasons being that I wanted to have people review my opening sequence early on. This was in case there were any changes suggested or any critiques. This would ensure that I would have more than enough time to make those changes or tweak a few details based on potential critiques. Other than that concern, I took this day to finalize the film before I presented it to others. I made any adjustments I deemed necessary to certain clips. I also toyed around with transitions to see which ones would match the certain scenes most accurately. I am usually pretty specific with the transitions I utilize. I am specific with the transitions I use to ensure that the opening sequence flows nicely and that it makes sense. Refilming Day

I spent my Monday afternoon filming a few scenes I decided needed to be fixed. The scenes I wanted to refilm were the scene of me making my bed and me cleaning my window. I did not really like how the second clip looked, mainly because of the bright light of the window washing out everything else. In the original clip of me cleaning my window, the light from the window was so bright, you could barely see me. This led me to refilming it, which turned out much better. Although the light from the window is still very bright, you can actually see me cleaning in the clip, which is a huge improvement. In the scene of me making my bed, I did not realize that in the background, I had left a shirt with my school logo on it lying on a chair near my bed. There are specific rules that we must follow when making this opening sequence. One of these rules being that we are not allowed to have anything with our school logo featured in the film.
