Ah, the Wonderful World of Editing | Editing Blog

Today, my group and I began to edit our commercial. At first, I deemed editing as a very difficult task, an almost daunting one. However, after researching and watching tutorials on how to correctly edit on iMovie, I finally started to get the hang of it. Sabrina and I clipped all the shots together on iMovie and inserted transitions in between the clips. Originally, our film, without any transitions, was 37 seconds. I had to cut down the time, due to our time constraint being 30 seconds. I cut a few clips down, which made the film look a bit choppy, but with transitions and further editing, it should be good. Now, the film is at 27 seconds, including transitions. My group and I were also able to record the voiceover, for the Starbucks logo at the end of the film. Celine was able to do this portion. In a previous blog, I had mentioned my group and I were planning to do an overlap of a certain clip and the Starbucks logo at the end of the film. Unfortunately, I don't believe I have the ability to do so on iMovie, which is a bit of an issue. My group and I will be doing further research to see if a solution can be found, but for now, I am just focusing on completing the editing portion of the commercial. The second day of editing for the group and I will be syncing the multiple audio clips to the shots taken. Additionally, the group and I have to add in the animations and specific zooms on the shots. The animations Sabrina and Celine will be working on are the lightbulb for the second to last clip in the commercial, as well as the thought bubble for another one of the clips. The specific zoom is for when I am opening the sandwich bag and showing the camera. Although editing the clips is stressful, especially when using an editing software with no prior experience, it is fun. I personally love seeing every aspect of the filming and editing process of creating projects like this. Hopefully, my group and I can finish our editing completely by next class period, so that we may submit it early.
