Group Blog

For the final task, I decided to work alone. I have a few reasons for doing so, one of them being that I enjoy working alone. Working alone rather than in a group has its benefits and downsides. For me, its benefits include being able to ensure that work gets done and that I am on schedule. Because I would be working alone, it is up to me to get virtually everything done in a timely manner. Although this does seem like a huge burden to put on myself, it does the opposite. It forces me to be efficient with my time, as well as staying organized and on top of my work and deadlines. Working with other people can be hectic and group members schedules may not always align. Schedules not aligning occurred quite often during previous projects. Unaligned schedules would make everything from filming to editing to researching much more difficult. Another downside to working with people is the possibility that a group member is not doing their fair share. This could result from the members simply not wanting to do their part or an emergency has arose and they cannot work on the project. Whatever the case may be, it does result in the group having to do other people’s work, which isn’t ideal. Issues like this could arise within groups and can make collaborating on a project altogether even more challenging than it already is. On the other hand, working alone does have its drawbacks. These drawbacks include limited filming ability and having to do everything, start to finish, by myself. I will admit, it is not ideal to have to film an entire final project alone. It is a lot of pressure and stress I will have to deal with. However, I feel that this is the best way for myself to get the project done. The last two filming projects, I have done in a group and while I enjoyed being able to collaborate with others, I think it is best to complete the final task alone.
