We Finally Finished!! | Editing Blog
My group and I have finally made it to the end of this project. I have finished editing the commercial and to be honest, it was an experience. Everything from shortening the clips to layering the audio alongside clips, to trying to make the commercial look as smooth as possible was honestly difficult but worth it. Although the commercial doesn't look as professional as I would've hoped, it is also my first filming project, from start to finish. I believe for the first attempt at a filming project as a group, my group and I did very well. There were definitely a few issues my group and I ran into whilst filming. These issues would include not being able to use certain transitions I had planned to use beforehand and the audio for certain clips not working at first. Another problem my group and I had run into was when I had exported the file to share with the rest of my group, there were certain clips that had audio that would not play. This was obviously an issue since I could not hear the entire commercial. Fortunately, my teammate Sabrina was able to quickly resolve this issue. She did this by replacing the audio clip that was not functioning and relining it with the clip it was assigned to. After testing it, it worked! My group and I also had another issue where the commercial was over 30 seconds, and I was forced to cut down on a lot of time in the commercial. This is why some of the shots may look a bit choppy but I tried my best to make it look as smooth as possible. Additionally, there was another issue with the animations my group and I were planning to do. No one in my group was able to figure out how to successfully create the animation and upload it to iMovie. The group collectively decided not to include it in the commercial. Although it does stray away from our original storyboard, the commercial itself can be understood without the animations. To conclude this editing blog, I honestly enjoyed doing this project and working with my group mates. It was a fun project that definitely included a lot of learning experiences.
